1960s Hamilton Super Compressor 600

Why This Watch Matters

A great example of the classic Hamilton Super Compressor model with a well-balanced dial configuration and the iconic cross-hatched crowns.

The Full Story

The Super Compressor case is the most well-loved design by Ervin Piquerez; it was used by many watch manufacturers including Omega, Longines, Enicar, and Hamilton, as seen in this model. The ingenious patented watertight case design relies on outside water pressure to increase the water resistance of the case. While it is a serious dive watch at heart, there is something a little playful and charming in its wide-set indexes and thick baton hands. Plus the inner rotating bezel and two cross-hatched round crowns complete the look.

There is a small black smudge near the date window that is visible under a loupe. The lume is consistent on the indexes, hands, and at the top of the inner rotating bezel. The cross-hatched crowns appear to be original to the watch.
