The Full Story
The Polerouter was designed by Gérald Genta in 1954. The original watch was intended to be used during the first passenger flight over the North Pole, which is where the watch drew its name. Universal Genève produced several Polerouter models throughout its history, and here we have a Polerouter Date from the 1960s. This example features a beautiful glossy black dial with a horizontal central line dividing the dial into two sections as well as a silvered outer track, which provides the watch with a classy edge. The date complication at three o'clock is placed inside a trapezoidal aperture and has a magnifier set flush on top of the crystal above it. The crystal is signed with the "UG" logo.
