The Full Story

Rolex is mostly known for three watches – the Daytona, the Submariner, and the Datejust. The latter was initially created in 1945 as a 40th anniversary watch for the manufacture, and was the first automatic watch with date at the time. This reference 1603 from 1970 is a fantastic example with a black dial, elongated stick indexes, and ribbed bezel. This Datejust is proof that Rolex knows how to make a timeless and classic watch.

What we Love and What You Should Know

This watch is in great condition with the exception of some small nicks on the top left and bottom right lugs. The dial is well-preserved, however the index at 9 o’clock is slightly discolored. Furthermore, the majority of the lume plots are bruised or are missing. Overall, this is a great classic Datejust made even better by a slick black dial.
